Water Aerobics

Workout without having to worry about adding stress on your joints. You will be able to gain cardiovascular endurance all while building core strength. These classes are ideal for all fitness levels, especially for those who have arthritis or joint pain. Water Exercise classes are included with all YMCA memberships!

Join our nationally-certified instructors in the pool for a fun and challenging workout. Work at your own ability level during a variety of water exercise classes with the encouragement from friendly, welcoming classmates. 

Water exercise classes utilize the resistance and buoyancy of the water to improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and flexibility. The YMCA’s water exercise classes provide motivation, aerobic choreography, improved cardiovascular endurance, and muscle conditioning/toning by using the buoyancy and resistance of the water. Non-swimmers welcomed. 

Shallow Water Fitness

All different ability levels can benefit from this class that includes low-impact exercises in the pool. This class is designed to increase cardiovascular capacity and increase muscle tone and flexibility.

Family Water Aerobics

A fun time for families with all different ability levels to enjoy a class with fun, low-impact exercises in the pool. Noodles, water weights and other toys will be incorporated. This class is designed to increase cardiovascular capacity and increase muscle tone and flexibility all while making great family memories!

Want to kick your workouts up a notch? Exercise with others! Meeting up with friends to take a group class helps with consistency because they involve a commitment. Positive peer pressure can help you avoid skipping a workout or exercise session. Grab a buddy, pick a class and get moving!

Exercising with someone you don’t know well provides an opportunity to build a new friendship. You’ll be starting with a shared interest which can make it easier to chat about other things. Joining an exercise class can be a great way to meet people, get to know them better, and make new friends.

Visit our website and select “Schedules” on the menu bar. Select your branch schedule hyperlink.  You can also download our YMCA App for iOS or Android. To view Group Exercise classes, select Schedules at the bottom and Register for the class.

When you view your branch schedule and find a group exercise you would like to click “Sign Up”.  Please register for all classes and cancel your registration if you are unable to attend. If you do not cancel your registration you will be tagged as a no-show. If you have 10 no-shows in 30 days you will be blocked from registering for 7 days. We are happy to help you with registrations and cancellations if you are new to the process.

Any Youth 13 and older.  Youth ages 10 to 14 meet with a personal trainer to learn important healthy lifestyle skills and review facility rules and guidelines for safety in the fitness center. Classes include education on age-appropriate equipment, nutrition, and how to develop a fitness routine. Upon completion of the class, participants ages 10 to 12 are allowed to use the cardio and strength equipment within arm’s reach of a parent and 13-14 without a parent on the fitness floor.

Yes, group exercise classes are included as a member benefit. 

Our instructors often provide options for movement in a class, so if it is too difficult you can adjust to make it more comfortable for yourself. If it is still too difficult, please feel comfortable to do as much as you can before leaving the class. You tried and did your best, which is what matters. Also, check our group exercise schedule for a different level for the class. We often offer multiple levels for classes, so you can attend a class that meets your skill level. Feel free to come back and try again! 

Yes, you should try to introduce yourself to the instructor. Share your skill level and any information he/she may need to know about you so they can provide appropriate options and modifications to keep you safe and provide the best experience possible. The more they know about your goals and expectations, the better equipped they will be to help make you successful in their class and also recommend others you may enjoy. Instructors love to meet and guide new students!
