Youth & Family
The Y has always been a place where families can play and be active together, and now that’s more important than ever. We believe in a healthy spirit, mind and body for the whole family! Whether it’s playing a game of basketball, taking a class or playing together outdoors, we have options that keep your family active, engaged, healthy and creating memories together.
Creative play is more than just fun and games. Our centers offer arts and education classes to kids and teens, including dance, theater, visual art and much more.
Family Fun Night
Our Family Fun Nights are about celebrating you and finding ways to connect with your loved ones. These monthly family-centric events feature different activities that anyone of any age will enjoy! Think game nights, field day relays in the gym, outdoor scavenger hunts. Family Fun Night is an exclusive benefit to families with a YMCA Family Membership at the AMA YMCA.
The dads in the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA Adventure Guides program have discovered an innovative program that allows them to spend quality time with their kids during those growing up years. Participants meet once a month in small groups, called camps. As part of the larger group or nation, camps join together to participate in activities ranging from Pinewood Derby, Rocket Shoot, Daddy/Daughter Date Night and campouts. Programs are available for fathers and children from three years to 8th grade.
Youth & Government
Youth and Government™ is a national program of the Y that involves thousands of teens nationwide in state-organized, model-government programs. Students from every corner of the U.S. have the opportunity to immerse themselves in experiential civic engagement and to, quite literally, practice democracy. Teens from across every state meet in their local Youth and Government™ groups throughout the year to discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of their state and to propose legislation. The program culminates with teens serving as delegates at their state conference, debating bills on the floor of the legislature.
