Get Fit

Get and stay healthy with YMCA classes that welcome all ages and fitness levels. Why tackle it alone when you can receive much needed inspiration and motivation from classmates? Studies show you’ll push yourself harder when tasked with exercising with others who are working hard and more effort equals bigger results! Let’s Go!

Get Healthy

Want to kick your workouts up a notch? Exercise with others! Meeting up with friends to take a group class helps with consistency because they involve a commitment. Positive peer pressure can help you avoid skipping a workout or exercise session. Grab a buddy, pick a class and get moving!

Connect with Others

Exercising with someone you don’t know well provides an opportunity to build a new friendship. You’ll be starting with a shared interest which can make it easier to chat about other things. Joining an exercise class can be a great way to meet people, get to know them better, and make new friends.

Exercise can lead to a healthy spirit, mind and body.

Want to feel better and have more energy? The health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore:

Healthy Spirit

  • Engaging in a vigorous physical workout can help you blow off steam and gain a more positive outlook on life.
  • Exercising, whether on your own or with a group, can provide a sense of belonging and community that can help you stay connected to your goals

Healthy Mind

  • Physical activity increases the flow of oxygen to your brain.
  • Exercise releases endorphins, the “feel-good” chemicals, in your brain and those who exercise regularly tend to enjoy a higher level of mental agility and decreased stress.

Healthy Body

  • Increased cardiovascular and respiratory health
  • Increased muscle strength and flexibility
  • Exercise stimulates the immune system to help you naturally fight off minor viral illnesses

Our instructors often provide options for movement in a class, so if it is too difficult you can adjust to make it more comfortable for yourself. If it is still too difficult, please feel comfortable to do as much as you can before leaving the class. You tried and did your best, which is what matters. Also, check our group exercise schedule for a different level for the class. We often offer multiple levels for classes, so you can attend a class that meets your skill level. Feel free to come back and try again!

Yes, you should try to introduce yourself to the instructor.
