HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY – COVID-19

Updated 5.14.21

The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is dedicated to the health and safety of our entire community. As COVID-19 is an ongoing global pandemic, the safety and health strategies we are employing are beneficial to individuals both while at the YMCA and while in the community at large.

FACE COVERINGS

For fully vaccinated adults:  Face coverings are no longer required to wear while in YMCA facilities, while participating in YMCA programs or while in attendance at YMCA events.

For non-vaccinated adults and children age 17 and under:  We ask that any individual that has not yet received their Coronavirus vaccination adhere to CDC recommendations as it pertains to wearing a mask and social distancing.  For more information on current CDC guidelines, please click here.

HEALTH SCREENING AND TEMPERATURE CHECKS

The YMCA will no longer be conducting health screenings or temperature checks.  Individuals are expected to stay home if they have any new or worsening signs or symptoms of COVID-19 or have had known close contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

YMCA staff and members that have not yet received their vaccination are expected to maintain and encourage 6 feet of space from people not in the same household.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

We ask all members to disinfect equipment before and after use. We have added sanitation bins, reminder signage and extra disinfecting wipes for your convenience.

HAND AND RESPIRATORY HYGIENE

All staff and members must practice respiratory hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes.

Staff must wash their hands or use hand sanitizers frequently. Signage is posted throughout the facility to remind members to do the same.

YMCA HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAMS

Effective 5.17.21 – All cardio and strength training equipment will be available for use.  All group exercise programs will resume normal pre-Covid capacity.

SMALL CHILDREN & YOUTH

Children ages 2 years and older must wear a face covering while indoors at the YMCA. However, in some instances, the child may take off the face covering while participating in the program.

  • Aquatics- children may remove their face coverings while they are in the pool.
  • Sports– for indoor sports, children may remove their face coverings once they begin playing the sport. For outdoor sports, children do not have to wear a face covering.
  • Child Watch & PNO– children ages 2 years and older must continue to wear their face coverings as long as they are indoors.
  • After school and Day Camp– children must wear a face covering while indoors but will not be required to wear a face covering while outdoors.
