Bettas Swim Team

Our competitive swim program helps swimmers of all ages and abilities build strong technique, endurance, and confidence with the support of trained YMCA coaches. Athletes develop all four competitive strokes—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly—along with proper starts, turns, and finishes. Teams are organized by ability and compete against other YMCA swim teams and area swim clubs at local meets.

New swimmer tryouts for our YMCA swim team are happening now! Sign up today to reserve your spot and begin your competitive swimming journey.

Exercise

Swimming uses all the muscles in the body so whether you swim a gentle breaststroke or hammer butterfly, you will get a full body workout.

Competition

In competition, swimmers challenge themselves physically while learning to accept wins and losses. There is also friendly competition on swim team that teaches kids to support and encourage their teammates.

Life Skills

By joining a swim team, your child will be able to learn valuable life skills. Kids learn character-building skills such as dedication, discipline, confidence, and resilience.

We are looking for swimmers who can comfortably swim front stroke (freestyle), back stroke and breast stroke 1 full length of the pool each.

Team levels are determined based on strength of stroke, endurance and understanding of competition rules for each stroke.

At the beginning of each season we share the team’s meet schedule.

Since we are a competitive team, we encourage your swimmer to attend as many meets as possible to not only learn and grow, but also experience the excitement of cheering on their teammates and going to other facilities.

Most meets allow 3-4 events per swimmer, with a possibility of relay races too.

We have an expectation that you are participating in most practices and meets. Being part of a team means that you are committed to your regimen and participating in events with your team.
