Togetherhood is a volunteer-led community service and social responsibility program.
Togetherhood – Activating People for Good
The Y’s Togetherhood program connects people from all backgrounds to plan and carry out volunteer projects that address a real need in their community.
Benefits of Volunteering
Good for you
Volunteering can improve personal well-being, build relationships, and provide an outlet to discover purpose.
Research shows that volunteers experience wellness benefits, including lower depression, improved mood and self-esteem, less stress, better heart health and lower mortality rates.
Good for community
Togetherhood is designed to unlock people’s potential to improve lives and create a more connected society.
Bringing diverse people together to tackle social issues creates more cohesive communities. A culture of volunteerism can also yield social benefits such as lower unemployment, greater income equality, and youth that are more likely to stay in school and avoid risky behaviors.
Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA Togetherhood Program
In the city’s of Arlington and Mansfield there are people who are eager to give back through donating their time and resources to the community. We are excited to provide a volunteer led program, like Togetherhood that facilitates opportunities to volunteer your time and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, friends, and family.
Our Togetherhood Program Task Force leader is Board Member, Bill Bowie. Bill and Shari Bowie have been a part of the Arlington Y for many years. Year-after-year they have given their time, treasures and talents to improving the community through volunteer service with the YMCA as well as, many other nonprofit organizations.

Opportunity to Volunteer and Community Partnerships
We collaborate with community organizations such as TransformUs Movement, Inc., The Miracle League, Cancer Care Services, and Trinity Community Foundation to strengthen our impact and extend our reach. We are excited about our opportunities in 2021 to work shoulder-to-shoulder with organizations in our community to provide programs and services that will enrich our community. We will offer projects for services in our community that are well planned and organized to provide you with the best volunteer experience possible and to provide our community with meaningful services.
Please note, that safety is our highest priority. We will adhere to all CDC recommended guidelines and continue to utilize masks and cleaning practices for as long as needed.

Partnership with Trinity Community Foundation
The Y and the Trinity Community Foundation have partnered to provide needed outreach services in our community. The Trinity Community Foundation works with the YMCA, Trinity Methodist Church and Arlington Police Department to provide Play Days. A day where children in the underserved community of Arlington can enjoy a light breakfast, lunch, and a day just to be a kid and play. This volunteer opportunity asks volunteers to shower love and attention on the children, while playing with them, facilitating games and activities and/or teaching them a new sports skill. They also provide needed information on how to contact community resources to our families in these communities, such as food, rent assistance and other resources that the community would not otherwise have access to.
Please join us and volunteer at one of the scheduled Play Days in 2021 and 2022 to provide a meaningful experience in our community. If you are an organization and are interested in being a partner at these events please email Heidi Hardy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our sports programs depend on volunteers as coaches, and your support is needed! You will experience the joy of seeing players learn and develop self-confidence, learn teamwork, participate in games and thoroughly enjoy playing sports. If you are interested in becoming a youth sports coach, visit our Coaches’ Corner page or contact Cory Brazeal. Thank you for your time and interest in the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA.
