Music Programs for Youth

Build Skills. Grow Confidence.

Discover the joy of making music at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA. Our small-group piano and guitar classes help students develop musical skills, express their creativity, and build confidence in a welcoming, supportive environment.

With beginner, continuing, and advanced offerings, students can build a strong foundation and keep growing as musicians.

Plus, they’re included in a YMCA membership at no additional charge.

Find Your Starting Point

Youth & Adult Group Piano & Guitar Classes

Our music classes are organized by skill level, with dedicated adult piano options available.

Beginner: Start with the fundamentals, including rhythm, technique, and playing your first songs. No previous experience is needed.

Continuing: Build on the skills introduced in beginner classes and become a more confident, proficient player.

Advanced: Refine established skills through more challenging music, stronger technique, and greater musical expression. Currently offered for adult piano students.

Beginner Class Requirement: All students must complete a beginner class before enrolling in a continuing class, unless they have previously taken music classes at the YMCA.

More Than Music

Our music classes give students opportunities to:

  • Build confidence through practice and progress.
  • Strengthen focus, listening, and coordination.
  • Explore creativity and self-expression.
  • Connect with others through shared musical experiences.
  • Develop skills they can enjoy for a lifetime.

What to Expect

Classes meet in small groups of no more than six participants, creating an encouraging environment with opportunities for individual guidance.

Attendance: Please make sure you can attend all six class dates before registering. Participants who miss more than one class during the session, regardless of the reason, will be removed from the class and unable to attend the remaining sessions.
