Build confidence, save a life! Become certified a certified YMCA Lifeguard and become a part of the team! These courses are designed to prepare the participant with the knowledge and skills needed to be a Lifeguard. Our training course includes YMCA Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and O2 Administration.
About YMCA Lifeguard Training
Ages: 16+ | Cost: $225 per course / FREE for those who will work for the AMA YMCA (Covers Certification Fees, Books, Materials, Water Time and CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 Certification)! The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is pleased to announce a YMCA Aquatics Retention Bonus for all qualifying part-time Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, as well as FREE certifications! Candidates holding a valid certification also qualify for a Sign-On Bonus.
Lifeguard Training Prerequisites
The lifeguard swim test consists of the following: 375 yards of swimming and 3 minutes of treading. Candidates will need to be able to perform freestyle, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke without arm action, feet first dive followed by 15 foot underwater swim, over arm surface dive, and treading.

The YMCA Lifeguard Training course is the most comprehensive program available, including certifications in CPR/AED, Basic Life Support, First Aid and Oxygen Administration. Training in equipment-based rescues for aquatic environments, accident prevention, and decision-making skills prepare participants for employment.
