Participants learn flight skills, drone safety, and real-world applications while building confidence and STEM skills through hands-on activities. Students can start with Junior Drone Explorers and advance to the Extreme Drone Flight Academy for more advanced training. Whether exploring a new hobby or preparing for future careers, this program offers an exciting introduction to one of today’s fastest-growing technologies.

EXTREME FUN DRONE FLIGHT ACADEMY

Ages: 16+

Take to the skies with our Extreme Drone Flight Academy for ages 16–75! Led by University of Texas at Arlington professor Zhe Yin, this hands-on course teaches drone flight, aerial photography and videography, safety, and FAA regulations through exciting real-world flight experiences.

Whether you’re a beginner or building your skills, you’ll gain practical experience while exploring career opportunities in the rapidly growing drone industry. Graduates will also be eligible for a specialized training pathway to prepare for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License in Summer 2027.

Ready to learn how to fly a drone? Join Junior Drone Explorers, a fun, beginner-friendly class led by instructor Tanisha! Students will learn the fundamentals of drone flight, safety, and technology through hands-on activities and guided practice.

Participants will master basic flight controls, takeoffs, landings, and simple flight challenges while exploring how drones are used in engineering, agriculture, public safety, and recreation. Completion of Robotics 2 is required to register.

This course is also the required prerequisite for the Extreme Drone Flight Academy with UTA professor Zhe Yin, making it the perfect first step toward becoming a skilled drone pilot.
