Swimming teaches confidence, endurance, determination, teamwork and much more. We are committed to your safety. All YMCA aquatics programs are conducted under the supervision of certified lifeguards and trained swim instructors.

Swim Lessons

The YMCA has long been America’s favorite swimming instructor. In Y swim lessons, students learn water safety skills, build stroke technique, develop skills that prevent chronic disease, decrease high blood pressure, increase cognitive well-being and foster a lifetime of physical activity. Swim lessons are available for infants, youth, teens and adults at times designed to fit your busy schedule. Group and private options available to ensure success for each person’s learning style.

Swim Team

Our Competitive swim team program focuses on the development of all ages and abilities. Trained coaches work to improve swimmers’ skill level, endurance and promote a healthy lifestyle. Teams are organized by ability and designed to help members improve and refine the four competitive strokes, sets, starts and finishes. Our swim teams compete with the other Ys and swim clubs at area meets. The YMCA’s Bettas competitive swim team practices four days a week with swim meets throughout the year.

Drowning Elimination

The world is 71% water. Are your children 100% prepared? Drowning is the second leading cause of death in children under the age of 14 in Texas. According to the Center for Disease Control, formal swim lessons can reduce drowning by 88%. Teaching children how to swim and be safe around water is one of the most important life skills parents can help their children learn. The YMCA partners with apartment complexes, school districts and other community organizations to ensure that kids learn the swimming skills necessary to be safe around water.
